Movie sets and hot pools

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Auckland to Rotorua, by Hobbiton

    Leave Auckland in the morning. About two hours later you are at the Hobbiton Movie Set near Matamata, for the guided tour of the Shire. Then about an hour on to Rotorua, with time for a hot pool in the evening.

  2. Day 2

    Rotorua, then back to Auckland

    Geysers and mud pools at Te Puia, a walk among the redwoods, then about three hours' drive back to Auckland.
